Ohtani, the soon-to-be National League MVP, went 0-for-3 with a walk Saturday night. He is 1-for-8 in the series. And while the Dodgers are deep enough to replace him with Mookie Betts or Tommy Edman atop the lineup and with any number of bats at designated hitter, Ohtani is their best player, and losing him would be an enormous gut punch. https://nailsculptures.com/ In a follow-up postgame question about how the Dodgers would adjust without Ohtani, Roberts said “I’m expecting him to be there.” Regardless, the excitement of taking a 2-0 series lead was tempered by the specter of losing Ohtani for any period of time. — Jeff Passan

NEW YORK — Assuming the voting results for the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani and the Yankees’ Aaron Judge go as we expect them to go (hint: they will), this is only the seventh World Series to feature that season’s two MVPs.

While the Dodgers will now take a crucial 2-0 advantage to New York, they might do it with far less star power. NL MVP favorite Shohei Ohtani, who became the first player in baseball history to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in one season, left the game in the seventh inning after suffering a left shoulder injury on a stolen base attempt.

World series game 5

• The Dodgers had to come back twice, trailing 5-0 and 6-5. They became the first team in postseason history to fall behind by at least five runs, erase that deficit, fall behind again and still win the game, per STATS. That’s in any postseason game, and the Dodgers did it in a World Series clincher.

New York remained without a title since its record 27th in 2009. The Yankees acquired Juan Soto from San Diego in December knowing he would be eligible for free agency after the 2024 Series. The 26-year-old star went 5 for 16 with one RBI in the Series heading into what will be intensely followed bidding on the open market.

There was the heartbreak of the 2017 World Series, a seven-game loss to a Houston Astros team that was later revealed to have been illegally stealing signs. The crushing finality to 2019, when the underdog Washington Nationals came from behind in the decisive game of the National League Division Series. And the sheer disappointments of 2022 and 2023, when they were ousted early by two division rivals — the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks, respectively — that they previously dominated.

Ron Darling was the scheduled starter for the Mets, who were employing a three-man rotation for the series consisting of him, Dwight Gooden, and Bob Ojeda. In his two starts so far in the series, Darling had a 1–1 record with an earned-run average of 0.00; the only run he had given up, which resulted in his Game 1 loss against Bruce Hurst, was unearned. The rainout gave him an extra day off, so he would be pitching on his normal four-day rest.

8. 1958: Yankees 4, Braves 3 (Forced Game 7)Baseball fans not only got a rematch of the 1957 Series between New York and Milwaukee – they also got another seven-game installment, thanks to an absolute thriller in ‘58 Game 6.

Game 2 figured to be a classic pitching matchup, between the Mets’ young phenom Dwight Gooden and Boston’s own young pitching sensation Roger Clemens, but neither pitcher went beyond five innings. The Red Sox scored first in the top of the third inning, following a leadoff walk to Spike Owen, when Keith Hernandez fielded a Clemens bunt, but threw it away trying to catch Owen at second base. Wade Boggs then drove in Owen with a double, Marty Barrett drove in Clemens with a single, and Bill Buckner drove in Boggs with a single to give the Sox a 3–0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, the Mets had men on second and third base for Wally Backman, who grounded up the middle, plating Rafael Santana. Hernandez then grounded out, allowing Gooden to score and bring the Mets within one run.

Open world star wars game

Lots of little details make this visit to the galaxy far far away one of the most memorable of the last couple of years, but these cities felt real in a way I’ve never experience before, teeming and lived in.

You might hear a radio message come over your speeder bike’s police scanner, pointing you to a cache of stolen Imperial supplies for a quick dose of combat and item gathering. You can spare a few credits for a stranger who’ll tell you all about the secrets held by the mysterious wind tunnels on the other side of the map. Or perhaps, stumble on a speeder bike enthusiast on the roadside who’ll challenge you to a race.

There are plenty of other issues that contribute to this feeling of systems only being partially built out. Kay needs to carefully manage her relationships with the four crime syndicates she encounters — Crimson Dawn, the Pyke Syndicate, the Hutt Cartel, and the Ashiga Clan — but in practice, this doesn’t end up going anywhere. While a high reputation with a syndicate offers rewards, they’re not particularly necessary rewards. You can carefully circumvent the competing nature of the syndicates (many side missions involve gaining reputation with one at the expense of another) by later bribing the ones you annoyed, or simply doing missions in a calculated order so you’re never pissing anyone off too much. Truthfully, I’m not even sure it’s worth bothering to stay on a syndicate’s good side. A decent number of story missions involve breaking into hideouts even of syndicates you’re friendly with, but as these are all labeled “Restricted Area” locations, being friendly just means you lose reputation when they catch you there — and they’ll shoot you if they find you anyway.

Swiftly following this, we are taken through Kay getting seen which triggers a high-speed chase and some intense combat. As we come into contact with a few of her pursuers, time appears to slow down, allowing Kay and Nix some time to plan their moves. After a quick shootout, we are taken to the smuggler town of Jaunta’s Hope.

“Kijimi, the frozen wasteland – that’s a city, but it’s the city of thieves,” Gerighty explains. “It’s a large city, it’s incredibly detailed, feels completely different to play. Akiva: lush jungle with rivers lakes. You’ll find an upgrade for your speeder that’ll allow you to drive on water. So that opens up the world in a completely different way as well. Every planet has a different size, a different approach, and a different gameplay kick to it.”
